Professional certification body APMG International has launched a new ESG certification course. The program aims to help professionals and organizations build skills for responsible and sustainable business practices.
APMG has designed this course to help business leaders understand ESG principles and apply them in everyday decision-making functions. Areas it focuses on are environmental responsibility, ethical governance, and social impact within organizations among others.
APMG said the certification is intended for professionals working across management, sustainability, compliance, and strategy roles who want to understand how ESG issues affect modern business operations.
Explaining how this new ESG certification course differs from other courses focused mainly on sustainability, APMG said the program offers a broader and more holistic view of ESG.
The course is strategically prepared to support professionals at different levels of responsibility within organisations. The certification includes two role-based examinations:
- ESG Generalist – The program helps professionals gain a broad understanding of ESG principles and how they apply across business functions.
- ESG Executive – Supports senior leaders and decision-makers who can integrate ESG into organisational strategy, governance, and long-term planning.
The two certifications are not cumulative; instead, candidates select the examination most relevant to their professional role and responsibilities.
Richard Pharro, CEO of APMG International believes that,
For many organisations ESG is increasingly relevant to how they manage risk, shape strategy and demonstrate accountability. Professionals throughout the organisation need a clear and practical understanding of how these principles translate into day-to-day decision making.
This certification provides a structured way to build personal and organisational capability and embed responsible leadership across the enterprise.
APMG International, based in the United Kingdom, provides professional certifications and training programs to worldwide large companies and public service organizations. It has delivered more than 2.6 million certification exams globally.
Worldwide, there is a critical demand for ESG professionals. In EU, the CSRD requirements introduce mandatory ESG disclosures for nearly 50,000 companies. Globally, The ISSB (IFRS S1 and S2) standards have been adopted or committed to by 21 jurisdictions, covering nearly 60% of global GDP.
Institutional investors, managing a projected $33.9 trillion in ESG-related assets by 2026, now treat ESG performance as a core indicator of management quality and risk resilience, estimates PwC.
The certification will be available globally through accredited training providers and online examination platforms.
